***Be careful on this one. If it gives you the relative frequency (the proportion) you do NOT have to divide because it is already in a proportion, you just have to add)
** In my two parts, I only got permutation. (A) is permutation because the order matters when it says ranked by effectiveness. (B) is permutation because the order matters, president is better than vice president is better than secretary.
USE COMBINATION when the order doesn’t matter. Like appetizers or pizza toppings.
**If it says it is NOT replaced back into the deck then your total amount changes every time you draw. You would use 52 as the denominator the 1st draw, then that card is gone, so you would use 51 in the denominator for the 2nd draw, 50 for the 3rd, etc.
**For conditional (the given by) probability, you ONLY look at what is past the “|” symbol. This is telling you to focus on that that column or row. Think about it like I separate all the people who are wearing a sweatshirt out into a room, I walk into that room and there are only 8+24 = 32 people in that room. Now students out of that room are 24/32
**Any time you need to “flip the sign” you do “1 -“. This is something we will use a couple more times in this class. You can’t change the calculator, so you find the other side and take it minus 1 (100%).
